WHO WE ARE
Leo Maya - President
Leo has been in the residential and commercial construction industry since 1980 when he started working in the family construction business. In 1994 he began general contracting in Caldwell County and built countless new homes and commercial buildings as Maya Building Company. He expanded his business to the Austin area in 2005 partnering in several projects with a then established remodeling company. In 2009 he formed Masterpiece Building of Austin LLC.

CHRIS KNOWLTON
PRODUCTION MANAGER
Chris has been working in construction for over 20 years and with Masterpiece since its inception. He brings a wealth of knowledge across all trades. When he is not juggling the challenges of his day job he enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities, and watching Cowboys & Longhorn football.
STEVEN BROWN
FIELD SUPERVISOR
Steven was born and raised in Michigan. On his days off he can be found tinkering around the house, cooking, and playing video games on his newly built PC. He loves to bring a little levity to the job site but takes seriously his responsibility in helping homeowners to achieve their goals. He loves to learn and the close-knit nature of Masterpiece.
ASHLEY BROWN
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Ashley loves getting to know clients and helping them achieve their goals with Masterpiece. She finds challenging projects to be the most rewarding. When she is not orchestrating things behind the scenes at work, she stays busy spending time in any body of water hopping on the next flight out, and brunching with friends.
ALFONSO NAJERA
FIELD SUPERVISOR
Alfonso has been with Masterpiece since 2013. He takes great pride in his craft and care in keeping a tidy job site. He has a good eye for detail but is also great with “big picture” thinking. In his free time he enjoys an ice cold Topo Chico and helping his brothers with their taco truck business.
JOEY HOKER
FIELD SUPERVISOR
Sports, hiking, and going to the lake are some of the ways Joey enjoys spending his time off. Working with Masterpiece allows him to learn across multiple trades and broadens his knowledge of construction. The close-knit nature of the company is another benefit. He believes amassing more experience can only make him a better builder.
OUR PROCESS
Initial Meeting
We meet at your home, listen and give careful consideration to your vision and over all needs for your project. We will conduct a feasible analysis to establish the process of your renovations as well as provide you a "ball park" verbal estimate for completion. Given our experience and knowledge of past projects our estimates take into account your unique and specific needs while meeting your projected budget restrictions. We will then offer you our client referral list and or set up appointments for you to visit past projects similar to yours so you can meet them in person, ask them any questions, and see first hand the quality of workmanship that we produce.
Research Phase
Once a budget is set we can move onto the design phase of construction where architectural planners and interior designers turn your ideas into building plans. At this point you are only committing to the cost and production of preliminary plans. Once all details of the building project are decided and final building plans are achieved then we can provide a real and true, line item, comprehensive bid. Of course during the design phase we look forward to having established a very positive relationship through the many practical and creative design suggestions that will no doubt have surfaced in our various meetings. Feel free to extract from the meetings all the latest and most practical energy, environmental and green building methods that may have a practical and very low cost application to your specific design and or existing conditions. We’ll make sure to pass on from our continuing education classes all practical options available.
Construction Phase
At this phase we will prepare all necessary contract documents and schedules for the finalized scope of work. During this time we will also prepare and gather all documents to submit for permitting, if required. Once we have approval for construction, we schedule a kick off meeting with our team to walk the details and construction begins.
